The history of the bender holding

The röntgen bender company was founded in 1947 as a dedicated trade company by Erwin Bender. As a dental depot the company supplied dental consumables. In 1971 his son Bernd Bender took over the parental company and transformed it into a professional wholesale business for X-ray products and equipment concentrating on the supply of hospitals as well as office-based physicians performing diagnostic imaging (mainly radiologists).

The expansion initiated by Bernd Bender was enhanced by the recruitment of field sales representatives, so that from the mid-80’sthe sales territory comprised all of South Germany. 
In 1991 the first European subsidiary was established in Switzerland. Inn 1996 the first company take-over took place, followed by many more. The first steps towards becoming a major player in diagnostic imaging were taken.

In 2001 Bernd Bender’s elder son, Dr. Timo Bender, joined the board of the bender holding as the third generation of the family and supported the company’s further expansion by continous entension of the productand service portfolio,  the acquisition of other holding companies and the setting up of new companies. The transition of the bender holding  to a wholesale company operating in the medical imaging and diagnostics business was accomplished.

In 2007 the bender holding acquired AKO System GmbH (Kehl, Germany). AKO System GmbH is a software company and the developer of the Windows-based Radiology Information System (RIS) WinRadiolog^®.  The era of digital imaging had just begun.

In 2007, Bernd Bender’s younger son, Dirk Bender also joined the board of the bender holding to support the further growth of the company.
